John Barnes is the President and owner of Big Woods Enterprises, Inc. and the four operating companies. After 17 years in investment research, John started implementing a consolidation strategy focused on acquiring smaller FedEx Ground contractors and scaling them into a larger operation. He started with the acquisition of seven routes in the Virginia Beach market in April 2017 and aggressively pursued additional acquisitions in Virginia Beach and new acquisitions in Richmond, VA. He augmented the acquisitions of local P&D routes with the acquisition of a FedEx Ground linehaul operation.
John also serves as a management consultant. Drawing on his experience in investment research and recent experience in operations, he provides strategic planning, business plan development and capital structure services to his clients. John received an M.B.A. from the College of William & Mary and B.B.A. from Augusta College.
